In a great finish Peter Svidler was able to beat Vadim Milov 2-0 in a rapid play-off to take first place. Going into the last round several players had a chance for first place, but the critical encounter's were Svidler who beat Harikrishna and Milov who beat Avurkh to share the lead. What makes Gibraltar a great tournament is their are no agreed draws allowed before 30 moves and if their is a tie for first then a play-off match is organised to decide an outright winner.
